I was using a Redmi Note 5 pro that I bought in 2018 and I have dropped it 50+ times, the screen won't break if you have a screen protector. My brother needed phone for online classes during lockdown. We had old mi phone with few battery problems laying around. I installed lineage os on it, didn't even had to root it. 5 year old phone works like charm and didn't even need to change battery.

I find Samsung pay useful. If you have a mid to high end Samsung then you can forget your credit and debit cards at home. Samsung pay works with old PoS devices without nfc (tap to pay). I'm on iPhone and I really miss that feature(even tap to pay doesn't work on iPhones in India)

Custom Roms are the way esp if you have a Xiaomi phone, Custom roms are fast, secure, they come with 0 bloatware, and they're upxed. I have Xiaomi K20 pro, and I am using DerpFest (a custom rom) running on android 12L and with the april's 2022 security patch which is literally the latest. There can be some downsides to this mind you, some custom roms can be a bit buggy and in some roms banking apps are a pain to run (only very few roms can have these problems).

Xiaomi + custom OS is the way to go. The hardware chinese companies provide for the price is amazing, but only xiaomi allows bootloader unlocking afaik. Now wipe that shitty ad and spyware of an OS they ship with and you got yourself an nice phone.

I wont comment on Samsung's hardware but their phones have lots of bloatware. They also get slow and unusable rather quickly which i think is planned obsolescence. I am using MiUI 12 and can remove all ads, and if need be i can install a custom rom on my phone.

Samsung is the most laggy phone I have ever used. I owned one a couple of years back, it was a laggy piece of shit whose battery wouldn't even stand a single day of normal use. FunFact: A lot of govt websites heavily use CleverTap too.

I recommend Xiaomi phones for the incredible hardware, and also the large userbase for custom rom developers. I've been using custom rom on my poco for years and right now it's running Android 12 smoothly.

I've been using a redmi note 7 pro since the end of August 2019. Never had any ad problem other than those ad filled third party apps that I download. When setting up my phone, it asked me if I give consent to allow user-related ads, and I unchecked the box. So that's why I don't get ads.

Other than that, I've been noticing performance issue because I don't have an SD card and the ROM is >90% occupied, so that justifies that. Having a few touch and display problems but are minor. The phone is top quality, and I've changed tempered glass a few times and have always had phone case. The body is almost as new as the day I got. Quality of camera has gone down a bit, I think but I hardly use them.

Using POCO since 2020. Turned off ads. It's not at all laggy. Apps on Android & Google take ur data anyway. One more company stealing doesn't make much difference.

I've been using a Vivo phone for atleast 2 years, and I have never faced any issue yet. Had a Redmi Note 5 pro before this and that phone stopped working a week after the warranty expired.
