As a Georgian I find it frustrating to hear people say that they changed their mind because Russia attacked their neighbors. Did you sleep last 30 years? This is 4th time Russia attacked neighboring country. In 1993, 2008 Russia occupied 20% of Georgia and in 2014 they occupied part of Ukraine itself.

Everything points towards Sweden applying too. Things have changed so, so fast in Sweden, i'd never thought it would ever swing towards a NATO membership, ever. In weeks things have changed though, and now it is like they can't wait 'til monday, it may come this weekend.
6 months ago the swedish minister of defence said "I believe Sweden should stand outside NATO and you will never, ever see me on duty and change that policy"...now he says "Sweden has to join". Finland is a great country and speaking as an American we are glad to have them in the alliance. We hope Sweden makes the same decision. It will make us a lot stronger in resisting the old guard KGB/FSB establishment still running Russia from pursuing their dreams of taking over Eastern Europe and establishing the old Soviet unx. As an American, I think this is likely the right answer, but what's important here is that Finland choose for itself, and wasn't bullied by Russia or US or anyone else. They looked at the facts, what is going on, and elected for a defensive agreement, which is ALWAYS what NATO has been about. Even if Finland leaves NATO right after leaving, I trust the Finnish to do what is best for Finland and the region while respecting basic human rights; something the world clearly cannot trust russians with.

I also know that many countries were just pawns during the Cold War, on both sides . Otherwise, fair enough you have a moot point.

If you knew anything about this war, you would aldready know that Ukraine was de facto a member state of NATO with joint NATO deployments and NATO training center in Ukraine. It is actually on NATOs website. The only thing NATO did not and does not want to give to Ukraine is the musketeer oath although they are giving them a hell of a lot of support.

It´s sad in many ways this happened...We had a good business with them and much opporunity when russia is so large. But sadly Putins decision to invade Ukraine destroyed what we have build up in 80 years just like that POFF. But i really do hope we still one day will get along and do business. I think more about the young russian people who know why we are joining and they understand totally. And all the cultural things. Like metal bands from russia came here to play and we did go there to play. This whole thing was so unnessecary...But it is what it is...When they get a leader who have something between her eyes i think we will slowly start to do business again but that is not going to happen in a very very long time. Finland is a great country and speaking as an American we are glad to have them in the alliance. We hope Sweden makes the same decision. It will make us a lot stronger in resisting the old guard KGB/FSB establishment still running Russia from pursuing their dreams of taking over Eastern Europe and establishing the old Soviet unx. We're hoping the Russian people will replace them with real democratic representation so we can have a friendly cooperative relationship with Russia in which we all flourish and help to build a safer more prosperous world but it doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon.

As an American, I think this is likely the right answer, but what's important here is that Finland choose for itself, and wasn't bullied by Russia or US or anyone else. They looked at the facts, what is going on, and elected for a defensive agreement, which is ALWAYS what NATO has been about. Even if Finland leaves NATO right after leaving, I trust the Finnish to do what is best for Finland and the region while respecting basic human rights; something the world clearly cannot trust russians with.

If you knew anything about this war, you would aldready know that Ukraine was de facto a member state of NATO with joint NATO deployments and NATO training center in Ukraine. It is actually on NATOs website. The only thing NATO did not and does not want to give to Ukraine is the musketeer oath although they are giving them a hell of a lot of support.

It´s sad in many ways this happened...We had a good business with them and much opporunity when russia is so large. But sadly Putins decision to invade Ukraine destroyed what we have build up in 80 years just like that POFF. But i really do hope we still one day will get along and do business.
